The majority of the unused content in the 3D remake comes from the text strings left in the code. These strings are remnants of the original plan to include new events in the remake; As of this writing, it is unclear if any of those scenes still exist somewhere in the code or if the text is all that remains.
Note that, in the original script, The characters have naming strings, as they can be renamed (per the original game/earlier FF games.
